Idea: Kronprinsen = The area was built in 1897 with various buildings for the Crown Prince’s Hussar Regiment. After the regiment was disbanded in 1927, the buildings were used for various forms of civilian activities. In the former officers’ flat, there was the legendary dance restaurant Arena, which burned down in 1958. The Kronprinsen high-rise building is located between Regementsgatan and Fågelbacksgatan, east of Mariedalsvägen in Malmö. The building’s facade is clad in blue mosaic tiles. When the high-rise building was inaugurated in 1964, it was state-of-the-art with, for example, underfloor heating and a unique system with movable parking spaces in the garage. Today, a newly renovated and popular shopping center.
