Davidshall

Idea: After Frans Henrik Kockum acquired land in the area, he established a foundry and mechanical workshop there in 1840–1841, Kockums Mekaniska Werkstad, which over time developed significantly. During the years 1862–1886, there was also the well-visited inn Davidshall, whose owner David Lenander was given the name of the current square and the Davidshall area. In recent years, Davidshall has undergone an extensive change. Tenancies, once workers’ housing, have increasingly been converted into condominiums. Streets such as Kockumsgatan now belong to Malmö’s most expensive streets. Since the turn of the millennium, the neighborhood has also been characterized by a rich selection of more expensive restaurants, cafés and fashion shops. Davidshall has now become a “hip” part of Malmö! “D” red = a little forward in style, like Davidshallstorget 😉 + beautiful old brick houses. “A, h” green = the trees in the square. “V” blue = squiggly font, the eateries in the area have a bit of style! “I” orange = art and culture in the area. “S” magenta = the “hip people” around the area. “A” blue = “uncle blue” old police house that has now been renovated into housing.
