Idea: The city was founded around 1048 and is today Norway’s capital. The city is located at the far end of the Oslo Fjord and is surrounded by forested ridges in the northwest, north, northeast and southeast, most famous is the large forest area north of the city. The ridges give Oslo a beautiful setting and good conditions for skiing and other outdoor life. In 2007, Oslo was named the world’s most expensive city. Holmenkollen is a large winter sport and recreation area outside Oslo. The area is perhaps best known for its ski jumping.
